Der Abstecher in die Geisterstadt von Bannack illustiert nachhaltig die Härte des Goldgräberlebens in dieser einsamen Gegend.
Der ständig wehende Gegenwind und die dan ganzen Tag leiccht ansteigende Strecke sorgen für einen harten Tag. Das zeite Frühstück mit Bratkartoffeln, Eiern und Speck im Prärie Hilton gibt die Kraft dafür.
Der Zeltplatz unterhalb des Sheep Creek Passes beite wenig Komfort. Auch die Nachtkälte bleibt uns treu. Das im eineinhalb Kilometer entfernten Bach geholte Wasser ist am nächsten morgen hart gefroren.
Als Kontrast zermürbt uns kurz darauf die unglaubliche Hitze auf dem endlosen Kiesweg nach Lima.
